missions And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations , baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Matt. 28:18-20). But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth”(Acts 1:8). The above verses are among the last that Jesus spoke prior to his ascension into heaven. The proclamation of the gospel to all nations (ethne, or people groups) was his great commission to the disciples. Staunton Grace Covenant is committed to working toward the fulfillment of the Great Commission. We are committed to this calling on several levels. As a church we support and give financially to various missions endeavors (se below). Many members of the congregation have gone to the field themselves for short-term or longer assignments, others work with mission agencies as their vocation. We seek to partner with both local and foreign evangelistic and missionary efforts. Our desire is to establish long-term relational partnerships with effective ministries both at home and abroad. Our missions committee meets monthly to pray and plan. We seek the most effective strategies we can find to support our members in fulfilling their call to bear witness to the gospel of Christ and to make disciples in our own Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria, as well as the ends of the earth. Below is a list of some of the missions and ministries in which we participate or support. To find out more click on the links in blue.
