Jesus shows mercy to a woman caught in the act of adultery. Though the law called for the harsh penalty of stoning the transgressor, Jesus recognized the false motives of her accusers and turns the accusation back on themselves. He forgives her, but does not condone her actions. The kindness of God leads to repentance. The transforming power of God leads to holiness.
