youth ministries
SGCC has several primary youth ministry goals: to encourage young people to honor God in every area of their lives, to study and apply Biblical truth, to reach out to the unsaved, and to provide opportunities for fellowship with other Christian teens. The youth leader and a team of adults provide over-site and leadership during all youth meetings and events. The theme of our youth ministry is I Timothy 4:12 (NIV): Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity. Parental involvement is highly encouraged in this ministry. The youth leadership team is available to assist, encourage, and to provide prayer support for parents of our young people.
A Sunday evening, bi-monthly youth gathering takes place for the senior high youth. The focus of this meeting is on disciplining young people in foundational theology, spiritual disciplines, worship as a way of life, and application of Biblical truth in daily living.
Junior and senior high recreational activities are provided for fellowship and socialization among the youth. Community service and missions opportunities are offered to encourage and evangelism.
community youth gathering Several times a year, our junior and senior high youth join with other youth ministries in the community for a larger gathering. The SGCC youth conduct a yearly Sunday morning service leading worship, sharing testimonies, and ministering in prayer.
It is our desire as a church to raise up young people who have hearts to love and follow Jesus Christ, a desire to serve in the local church, and a motivation to reach out to the community and beyond.
