Alan grew up in New Jersey and Malinda in Virginia. They met at the College of William and Mary where Alan studied military science and psychology, and Malinda English and education. Following military service, Alan went on to earn a masters degree in education from the College of New Jersey. He served as a teacher and administrator in public schools before becoming headmaster of a Christian school in Connecticut, then the Europe Director for the Association of Christian Schools International. During those years Malinda served in public schools as an English and art teacher and in a Christian school as a Bible, English and art teacher. She earned her masters degree in education from Kairn University and spent years of service in Europe as an educational consultant to Christian schools. Alan and Malinda received the Lord at a young age, have enjoyed a long spiritual journey, and are passionate and privileged to serve Him at Staunton Grace. They have been blessed with three children and 12 grandchildren who they visit often in California, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
