Pastor Zifus James grew up on the beautiful Caribbean island of St. Lucia, where he enjoyed time at the beach and hiking the island’s scenic trails. At the age of 19, following a car accident that nearly took his life, he felt a deep and life-changing call to live fully for the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ.
He later spent eight years living, studying, and working in Jamaica, where he met his wife, Shelly-Ann. Together, they have the joy of raising four wonderful children: Jory, Zachary, Zoe, and Elizabeth.
Pastor Zifus holds a Bachelor’s degree in Theology, a Master’s degree in Educational Administration, and a Ph.D. in Theology. He has a passion for teaching God’s Word, pastoral leadership, and equipping leaders to fulfill their God-given calling.
Pastor Zifus served as a Pastor with the Evangelical Church of the West-Indies in St. Lucia for 10 years. He began serving at Staunton Grace Covenant Church as Associate Pastor in October 2020, while his wife pursued a doctorate in Clinical Psychology. Shelly-Ann is now a licensed Clinical Psychologist. Pastor Zifus assumed the role of Lead Pastor for Staunton Grace Covenant Church on February 23, 2025.
Pastor Zifus also has a heart for training and equipping leaders globally. He has traveled to Uganda, Kenya, Nepal, and India to teach and train pastors in person, and has provided online leadership training to pastors in other countries as well.
When he’s not engaged in ministry, Pastor Zifus enjoys spending time outdoors to unwind. He and Shelly-Ann also enjoy watching Chicago PD together, and although he loves pizza, he tries to stay away from it (with varied success😊). Above all, Pastor Zifus loves spending time with people and helping them grow into the purpose God has for their lives. He’s known for his easy-going and approachable nature, making him a joy to be around.
